Privacy Policy

Overview
3DPrintDash, operated by Benyamin Neil Louwrens, a California sole proprietor doing business as 3DPrintDash (registered fictitious business name "3D Print Dash"), respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and who we share it with when you use the 3DPrintDash marketplace.
This policy, together with our Terms of Use and Cookie Policy, applies to our marketing website (www.3dprintdash.com), the 3DPrintDash application, and our downloadable desktop and mobile apps, which display that same application. They are one service operated by the same business, on one site, and your data, cookie, and privacy choices carry across all of it. Our service-information pages (status, incident history, changelog, blog, security and subprocessors) are hosted separately, by Netlify, and they are plain informational pages.
Information we collect
Account: your email address, and your name if you sign in with Google or Apple.
Orders (customers): the 3D model files you upload, your order and quote details, and the shipping address you provide at checkout.
Purchases in the iPhone app: the confirmation Apple sends us of what you bought and when (see "Purchases in the iPhone app" below).
Operators: your ship-from address, the printers you register, the filament inventory you report (material type; finish such as solid, matte, silk, translucent, or glow; the selected color, including its exact hex value; and any optional brand or spool label), your notification preferences, verification photos, and payout details handled by our payments provider.
Automatic: basic technical data needed to run the site (e.g., session/authentication cookies and standard server logs), and, only if you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics usage data (see the Cookies section below). We also keep first-party operational logs of which step of a signup or setup flow you reached and whether it completed, so we can find and fix places our own flows break; these are not used for advertising and are not shared with analytics or ad vendors.
Source-protection: to protect our intellectual property, if the site detects an attempt to lift its proprietary source or a protected 3D model (the Save, View-Source, or developer-tools keyboard shortcuts, or a copy shortcut used while one of our AI-generated models is on screen), we record the event type, the page, your IP address and browser/user-agent, and your account ID if you are signed in. Ordinary browsing, uploading, and ordering are not recorded this way.
How we use your information
To create your account; produce, match, and ship your orders; process payments and payouts; send transactional messages (such as sign-in links and order updates); prevent fraud and abuse; provide support; and meet legal obligations.
How we share information
With the assigned operator: to fulfill your order, the operator receives what they need to print and ship it, including your shipping address. The operator's ship-from address appears as the return address on the package, so it is visible to the customer.
With service providers that run the platform: Supabase (database, authentication, file storage), Stripe (payments and operator payouts), Shippo (shipping rates and labels), Resend (transactional email), Vercel (hosting and content delivery), Sentry (error monitoring, which receives your account identifier, the page an error happened on, and technical details of the failure, but not your name or email; it loads on every page because it cannot report a crash it was not present for, and it transmits only when something actually goes wrong), Google (for Google sign-in if you choose it, and for Google Analytics if you accept analytics cookies), Apple (for Sign in with Apple in the iPhone and iPad app, if you choose it, for purchases you make there, which Apple sells and processes, and to deliver the notifications you turn on there), Cloudflare (Turnstile, the "are you a human" check on part creation, which loads a script from Cloudflare and receives your IP address and browser details in order to run that check), and, for operators only and only if they choose to link an account, Discord (which receives the operator's Discord identity at link time and the text of the job notifications we send them as a direct message). Customers are never sent Discord messages and no customer data goes to Discord. These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms.
We do not sell your personal information. We may create and commercialize aggregated or deidentified statistics about orders and the marketplace (for example, which materials, finishes, and colors are most ordered over a period) that are not reasonably linkable to you, your account, your files, or your address, under the same safeguards described for operator inventory statistics below; those safeguards apply equally here. You can exclude your activity even from those anonymous statistics using the "Do not sell or share" setting described below. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights and safety.
Operator inventory and network insights
We collect information about the printers, filament materials, finishes, colors (including exact color values), and optional brand or spool labels that operators report having available, together with when it was recorded and their notification preferences. We use this information to manage operator inventories, determine job eligibility, match orders, develop the color and material options offered to customers, understand network capacity, communicate with operators, and improve the service.
We currently do not sell or share operators' personal information. We may create and commercialize aggregated or deidentified statistics about network capacity, materials, finishes, colors, and availability that are not reasonably linkable to an individual operator, account, printer, or location. Before any such use, we will take reasonable measures so the data cannot be associated with you, use and maintain it only in deidentified form, and contractually prohibit recipients from attempting re-identification. We will not sell or license identifiable or operator-level inventory information without advance notice and any consent or opt-out required by applicable law, and we will not apply any future change to this practice retroactively to information already collected without the consent the law requires.
Operators can exclude their activity even from these aggregated statistics using the "Do not sell or share my info" setting on the Operator account page, described in the "Do not sell or share" section below.
Google sign-in
If you sign in with Google, Google shares your basic profile information (such as your name and email) with us so we can create and access your account. Your use of Google sign-in is also subject to Google's privacy policy.
Sign in with Apple
In the iPhone and iPad app you can sign in with Apple. Apple confirms who you are and shares an identifier with us, and the first time only, your name and email if you allow it, or a private relay address that forwards to your email if you choose to hide it (we can email that address, and Apple forwards it to you). Your use of Sign in with Apple is also subject to Apple's privacy policy. If you delete your account in the app, we also tell Apple to stop honoring the sign-in; you can see and remove it any time in your Apple Account settings.
Purchases in the iPhone app
In the iPhone and iPad app, credit packs and file purchases are sold by Apple, not by us. Apple takes the payment under its own terms and privacy policy, and we never receive your card, your Apple Account details or your address from it. We receive a confirmation of what was bought and when: a transaction identifier, the product, and whether it was a real or a test purchase. So that Apple's confirmation reaches the right account, we give Apple a random-looking identifier when you buy: for credits it is derived from your account, and for a file it is the identifier of the creation you are buying. We keep these confirmations with our other purchase records, which are financial records kept for the period described under Data retention. Refunds of purchases made through Apple are decided by Apple, which tells us when it grants one, and we then take back what that purchase gave you. Prints and other physical orders are still paid through Stripe, as described above.
Notifications in the iPhone app
In the iPhone and iPad app you can turn on notifications for the updates that matter: for customers, when an order ships, arrives, runs late, is cancelled or is refunded; for operators, when a new job your printers can take is posted, or one of your jobs needs you. If you turn them on, we keep a notification token for your device, and each notification's title and short text go to Apple's Push Notification service, which delivers it to your device. The text never includes your address or payment details. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device's Settings. We delete a device's token when Apple tells us it no longer works, when someone else signs in on that device, and when you delete your account.
Cookies
We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in (Supabase) and to process payments (Stripe); these are essential to provide the service and load by default. We also use Google Analytics to measure usage and improve the product, but only if you click Accept on our cookie banner. When enabled, Google Analytics uses cookies to collect usage information such as the pages you view, the referring and exit pages, approximate location derived from your IP address, and your device and browser type; we use it only to understand and improve how the service is used, never for third-party advertising or ad targeting, and it is retained for a limited period set in our Google Analytics configuration. If you reject, make no choice, or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) or Do-Not-Track signal, Google Analytics is not loaded and sets no analytics cookies. You can change your choice anytime: signed in, it is under Privacy & data on your Account page; signed out, it is the Cookie settings link in the footer of this page and of our Cookie Policy, and a GPC or Do-Not-Track signal overrides a prior acceptance. Google processes this data under its own terms; our Cookie Policy is at 3dprintdash.com/cookies.
The apps (desktop & mobile)
The desktop apps (Windows, macOS, Linux) and the Android app are thin shells that display the same application this policy already covers. What we collect and how we use it does not change when you use an app, and the apps add no analytics or tracking of their own.
Two app-specific notes. The desktop apps remember your window size and the page you were last on; that is stored only on your device and is not sent to us. The desktop apps also periodically check our public release listing on GitHub for updates; like any web request, GitHub receives standard technical data (such as your IP address) under its own privacy terms. You can stop both by uninstalling the app.
The Compare Prices browser extension
Separately from the website, we offer an optional browser extension (for Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari) that shows our price for your 3D model while you compare quotes from other 3D printing services. It has its own privacy policy at 3dprintdash.com/extension-privacy, which is the controlling statement about the extension; the short version is this.
Your model file is measured on your own computer. What reaches us is only the model's measurements (its volume, surface area, and bounding-box size), the number of copies you choose, and a ZIP code if you type one. We do not receive the file or its name. We use your IP address, as our website does, to look up a shipping rate, and if you don't enter a ZIP code we use the postal code our hosting provider infers from your connection. We do not save these lookups against an account.
The extension does not send your file to any other company: it shows our price and where other platforms stand, but no other company's price. Some other services could only price your model if they were sent the file. A future version may offer that for a specific service, but only if you switch it on, after we tell you what will be sent, and after we update this policy. The file would then go straight from your browser to that company (for example Slant 3D, if and when that service is enabled), it would be used only to price your model, and we would ask the company to delete it immediately afterward. While that company held the file, its own privacy policy would apply to it.
Data retention
We keep your account and order information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service and meet legal, accounting, and dispute-resolution requirements. Unfinished cart items and their uploaded files are removed about 30 days after they are added (extendable from your cart). Reference photos attached to an order are deleted shortly after the order is fulfilled. The model files of placed orders and purchased digital files are kept while the service operates and for as long as we need them for re-download, disputes, reprints, and support. Download a copy of anything you want to keep. Because purchased creation credits are paid for, credit and payment transaction records (amounts, dates, and reasons, without the model files) are kept as financial records for at least 7 years for accounting, tax, and dispute purposes; if you delete your account these transaction records are retained with your personal identifiers removed. Source-protection event logs are retained for up to 24 months (longer only where needed to establish, exercise, or defend a legal claim), then deleted.
Your privacy rights
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information. Signed-in customers can request deletion from the Account page (“Your data & privacy”), or you can contact us.
When we delete your information we remove your uploaded files and anonymize your personal details. We may retain certain records in anonymized or limited form where the law allows or requires it, for example to complete a transaction, keep tax and accounting records, prevent fraud or misuse, comply with legal obligations, or establish, exercise, or defend legal claims. This means a deletion request does not erase records that we are entitled to keep to comply with law or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
We do not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
Do not sell or share (your opt-out)
We do not sell or share personal information as California law defines those terms. We may sell anonymous, aggregated statistics about the marketplace, such as which filament materials, finishes, and colors are most used over a period, built so they are not reasonably linkable to any person, account, printer, or location, under the safeguards described in the sections above.
You can opt out of even that. Signed in, open your Account page (customers) or your Operator account page (operators) and turn on "Do not sell or share my info" under Privacy & data. The setting takes effect the moment it is saved, with nothing to email and nobody to wait for: your activity is excluded automatically from any statistics we commercialize, and the setting also stands as your legal opt-out of any sale or sharing of personal information should our practices ever change. We would honor existing opt-outs before any such change and update this policy first.
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal while you are signed in, we record this same opt-out for your account automatically, unless you have already made an explicit choice on your account page. A "Do Not Sell Or Share My Personal Information" link in the footer of our marketing site leads to a summary of these choices.
California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use and share it, to request a copy of it, to request its deletion, and to request correction, subject to the exceptions described above. We do NOT sell or “share” your personal information as those terms are defined under California law, and we do not use sensitive personal information for purposes that would require an opt-out. We treat a Global Privacy Control (GPC) or Do-Not-Track browser signal as a request not to load non-essential (analytics) cookies, and we honor it automatically; while you are signed in, a GPC signal also records the do-not-sell-or-share opt-out described above for your account. To exercise a right, use the Account page (including the "Do not sell or share my info" setting) or contact us; we will verify your request and respond within the time allowed by law. Other U.S. state privacy laws may provide similar rights; if one applies to you, contact us and we will respond as that law requires.
Security
We use reputable providers and reasonable safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to keep your data protected.
Children
The service is intended for adults (18+) and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
We may update this policy; the version and date above will change. Material changes will be reflected here.

Part creation (AI), design pricing, and the 3D library
When you use Create a part, the description you type and any photo you attach are transmitted to the third-party AI services that power the feature, or to the design library provider (Cults3D), to fulfill your request, and are subject to those providers' terms. Those AI services are currently Zhipu AI (GLM, for improving and classifying your description), Google Gemini (fallback for the same), Stability AI (turning a sketch you draw into a concept image), Tencent Hunyuan 3D (model generation), and Tripo (model generation from multi-view sketches).
WHERE THIS IS PROCESSED. Some of these providers process data outside the United States, including in mainland China, and we would rather tell you that plainly than name one country and imply the rest are domestic. Zhipu AI processes on servers in China. Tencent's 3D generation service is reached through whichever of its regional endpoints serves our account: our request may be served from an international region or fall back to a mainland-China endpoint. We cannot promise which region will handle any single request, so treat anything you submit to part creation as capable of being processed in China. Do not submit anything export-controlled, anything subject to someone else's confidentiality obligation, or anything you would not be comfortable sending abroad.
CUSTOM DESIGN JOBS. If you submit a custom design request, the text of your brief is also sent to Zhipu AI to produce a rough hours estimate. That estimate is shown only to the operator writing your proposal, as a non-binding suggestion they are free to ignore; it is never shown to you and it does not set your price.
SUPPORT CHAT. The assistant in the support panel is also powered by Zhipu AI, on the same servers in China. What you type there is sent to it, together with a short summary of your own recent orders (an abbreviated order reference, its status, its date, and whether it has tracking) so the assistant can answer questions about them. If you open a support ticket from that conversation, the transcript and a Zhipu-written summary of it are stored with the ticket. Your conversation IS saved, and is deleted automatically after 90 days; if you open a ticket, the transcript stays with the ticket. Your name, email, address and payment details are never sent to it.
Apart from that order summary, only your description and photo are sent to these providers, never your name, email, or account details. We do not keep a copy of the photos you submit to part creation on our servers; they are sent to the provider at creation time only, though the provider may retain them under its own terms and we do not control that. Reference photos you attach to an order are different: they are stored with the order and deleted shortly after it is fulfilled, as the Terms describe. Generated model files are stored encrypted and are automatically deleted on a schedule (failed runs within days; unpurchased creations after about 30 days; purchased files are kept while the service operates). To limit abuse of free creations we store a one-way hashed network identifier with each creation for a short period. We do not attempt to reverse it and do not use it to work out who you are, but privacy laws may still treat it as information relating to you, so we hold it under this policy, keep it only for that anti-abuse purpose, and delete it with the creation record.
Phone numbers and text messages
Adding a phone number is optional. If you verify one (including to claim a one-time credit bonus), we send a verification code by SMS through our SMS provider; message and data rates may apply. We store your verified number with your account, plus a one-way hash of it used only to prevent the same number claiming more than one bonus across accounts. Today the only text message we send is that verification code. We do not currently send order, account, or marketing text messages, and we will not start without asking you separately for that category first and providing a working opt-out. You can ask us to delete your number using the deletion request on your account page.
