Ordering & pricing
How is my price calculated?
Your quote is calculated automatically based on the details of your part and the options you choose, so you always see the price before placing your order.
Is the quote I see the final price?
Yes. The price you see already includes shipping and everything you pay us, and no fee is added at checkout. Sales tax, where we collect it, is the only thing added after. Options you choose yourself, like a specific color, are priced on the control that offers them and are in the total before you pay.
Do bigger orders get a discount?
Yes. Eligible larger orders automatically receive any available bulk discount at checkout. No code required.
What payment methods are accepted?
Standard card payment via Stripe.
Is sales tax included?
We don't currently collect sales tax at checkout. If that changes, any tax will be shown before you pay.
Can I cancel or change my order?
Free cancellation before an operator accepts it. After that, contact support, see "Orders & refunds" below.
Can businesses use 3D Print Dash?
Yes, businesses can order the same way individual customers do.
Print quality & materials
What quality/detail levels are there?
A faster/rougher option and a slower/finer option, so you can trade speed for surface quality.
What does "Strength" control?
How solid the inside of the part is, sturdier vs. lighter and faster.
What material do you print in?
PLA.
Is it food safe?
No. Do not use prints with food, drinks, or potable water.
How long does printing take?
Depends on the part and the quality level you pick, shown before you order.
What file formats do you accept?
STL, OBJ, PLY, 3MF, and STEP/IGES CAD files.
Color & customization
What colors can I choose?
White is always available. Choosing "operator's choice" lets your assigned maker use whatever they have loaded, for a discount.
If I pick operator's choice, is getting an unexpected color a defect?
No, that's the expected trade-off for the discount, not a print issue.
Creating with AI
Do I need my own 3D file?
No, describe what you want and we generate a model, or upload your own file if you already have one.
Can I preview my idea before committing?
Yes, an optional concept image preview before the full 3D model.
Can I upload someone else's design?
Only if you own it or have permission to use it. See our Terms of Service.
Will you generate copyrighted characters or trademarked designs?
No, requests are screened and declined if they clearly infringe.
Will you print weapons, firearm parts, or replicas?
Generated models pass through an automated screen that warns you if it believes it has found one and asks you to decide, it does not refuse on its own. Our team also reviews orders alongside production and may decline one, and so may the operator. Files you upload yourself are not screened in advance; you are responsible for their compliance with our Prohibited Items policy.
Can I use AI-generated models commercially?
Yes, once you've acquired the file. See our Terms of Service for the license that applies.
Will my model actually print well?
How do I know before ordering?
Models made with Create a part go through an automated policy check when they are generated, and every order goes into our review queue after it is placed. Files you upload yourself are not pre-screened; the rights in them are your responsibility. If anything looks like a problem, we tell you.
What if my part needs supports?
Some models require temporary supports during printing. These are normally removed before shipping unless you request otherwise, which may affect price.
What if my model gets flagged?
If a model is flagged, you may be asked to make changes or choose whether to continue. In some cases, an operator may decline a job they aren't able to complete successfully.
Turnaround & shipping
How long until my order ships?
You're matched with a nearby vetted operator. Most orders ship in about a week, though timing depends on the part and operator availability.
Where do you ship?
Currently within the United States.
How do I track my order?
Status updates on your order page as it moves from accepted to printing to shipped.
Can I order multiple copies of the same part?
Add the part again for each copy you'd like, or contact support for larger orders.
Can I reorder a print I made before?
You can place another order using your original file from your account.
Credits & free tier
How do credits work?
Credits pay for AI generation (concept images and 3D models). Uploading and ordering your own file doesn't use credits.
Do I get free credits when I sign up?
Yes, a starting balance of free credits on signup.
What if a generation fails?
Automatically refunded, you're never charged for a failed generation.
Do credits expire?
No.
Files, storage & privacy
Who can see my uploaded file?
Only you and the operator assigned to your order can access your uploaded file. Files are retained according to our Privacy Policy.
How long do you keep my files?
Retention periods for free-tier creations, purchased files, and reference photos are detailed in our Privacy Policy.
Can I delete my data?
Yes, from Account settings, a request is processed and confirmed.
Can I re-download a file I paid for?
Yes, from your account, for as long as it's retained.
Orders, refunds & problems
What if my print arrives damaged or wrong?
Report it from your order page, no need to contact the operator directly, we handle it.
Can I get a refund?
Full refund if canceled before an operator accepts. After that, a dispute window applies and reprint-or-refund is handled case by case under our Terms of Service.
Can I contact the operator directly?
No need to. Report any issue through your order page and we handle it from there.
Who actually prints my order?
Who prints and ships it?
3D Print Dash connects you with independent, vetted print operators who make and ship your order on their own equipment. Operators are independent contractors, not employees of 3D Print Dash.
How do you make sure operators do good work?
We review operator performance and investigate reported issues to help maintain quality.
